3 Fine Print VoIP Contract Myths

 

Searching for a VoIP provider can leave you with more questions than answers at the end of your trip to Google. You can find a variety of plans and each offers to be the "best" with tons of features and "free" phones and low monthly prices.
But let's take a look at what "free" and "included" really mean and 3 VoIP Contract Myths.

 

1. The Free Phone Myth
If a company is including "free" phones there is usually a 3 year contract involved or the promotional phones are refurbished. In the 3 year contract the price of the phone is usually bundled up in the monthly cost over time. If the phone is refurbished there is a high chance the life of the phone will not be very long and then there is no warranty so you will actually be spending more out of pocket over a longer term.

2. The Included Features Myth 
Yes, it might look appealing when you see all the available features that can come with your VoIP system. However, do a little digging in the fine print to see if these features are ACTUALLY included. Often times the features are available.....at an additional cost that can spike your VoIP bill to twice what the original offer was due to all the bells and whistles.

3. The Free Long Distance Myth 
Free long distance is only free to an extent. Free long distance will always have some sort of verbiage in the fine print in the Terms that states that it is free until the carrier decides that you have used up your "free" amount. For example, they may give you 3,000 long distance minutes and after those minutes they have the right to bill you what they want for each long distance call.

 The VirtualTone Way:  With each VirtualTone packag we offer a certain amount of long distance up front and then after those minutes are used we charge a standard rate for each minute.
